Marrakech Desert & Sahara Tour
A fast-paced introduction to the Sahara for travelers short on time: the High Atlas, a UNESCO kasbah, and a night under the stars in the dunes, all in three days from Marrakech.
Itinerary
Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Dades Valley
Depart Marrakech and cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass, stopping in the Berber villages along the way. Visit the UNESCO-listed kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou before continuing to Ouarzazate and on to the Dades Valley for the night.
Dades Valley → Merzouga (Sahara Desert)
Morning stop at the dramatic Todra Gorge, then drive on through Erfoud and Rissani toward Merzouga. In the late afternoon, swap your vehicle for a camel as you trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes to watch the sunset, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at a desert camp.
Sunrise in the Dunes → Marrakech
Wake before dawn for sunrise over the dunes, then camel back to the camp for breakfast. Drive back to Marrakech via Ouarzazate, arriving in the evening.

It's the fastest way to genuinely experience the dunes and a night in the desert, though it means two full driving days. Travelers with more time often prefer our 4-day version for a less rushed pace.
